Grants are unrestricted and intended to help promote your work or support conference attendance, travel, publication costs, training, software, or future research.

Instructions

  1. Enter the Null Compass code you received when you first used the tool. You will have received this on screen, and had the option to request your code and report be sent by email.
  2. Enter the DOI for the corresponding work published by a recognised journal or disseminated through a public preprint server.
  3. CBMRT will verify eligibility, authorship, publication, and validity of the research findings. CBMRT reserves the right to investigate - and request evidence - that the research reported was genuinely undertaken.

Null Compass Grant Support Initiative – Terms & Conditions

Overview

The Center for Biomedical Research Transparency (CBMRT) offers a $500 USD microgrant for each complete, verified qualifying publication submitted while funds remain. No more than 200 microgrants will be awarded over the lifetime of the initiative. Submitting a request does not guarantee payment. Payment is not guaranteed unless and until it has been made.

Eligibility

  • The work must be biomedical in vitro or in vivo research with material null or negative findings.
  • The research must have been registered through Null Compass before publication.
  • The applicant must be a verifiable author of the resulting article or preprint.
  • The work must have a valid, publicly resolvable DOI from a recognised journal or public preprint server.

Program Limits

  • One microgrant per person for the lifetime of the initiative.
  • Only one author and one microgrant are permitted per publication, even if it has multiple authors.
  • Authors are responsible for agreeing who will apply; CBMRT will not mediate competing author claims.
  • A maximum of 200 microgrants will be awarded, subject to remaining availability.

Verification and Decisions

  • Submitting a request does not guarantee payment. Payment is not guaranteed unless and until it has been made.
  • CBMRT has sole discretion to decide whether the applicant, findings, publication, DOI, journal, or preprint server qualifies.
  • CBMRT may request evidence that the research described was genuinely undertaken. If CBMRT is not satisfied by the evidence provided, it may withhold payment.

Grant Conditions

Grants are non-transferable. Approved payments will be made through Wise to the international bank account nominated by the recipient. Recipients are responsible for providing accurate bank details and for all taxes, fees, charges, foreign-exchange costs, reporting, and legal obligations that apply to them. CBMRT is not responsible for those taxes, fees, charges, deductions, or losses. CBMRT may amend, suspend, or end the initiative. Approval or written confirmation does not guarantee payment before the transfer has been completed.

Recipient Promotion and Privacy

By accepting a microgrant, recipients authorise CBMRT to identify and promote them, their affiliation, publication, and award through its website, newsletter, social media, press, and other communications without further consent. Private contact, tax, and payment information remains confidential.
